COVID 19 Updates
May 2020 Cottage Country Considerations & COVID-19
FOCA posts the most up-to-date and relevant information about the pandemic and impacts on waterfront Ontario on our website, here:
Recent news of note:
FOCA will be working with the Provincial government, our municipal partners and others to communicate the impact of the various restrictions on waterfront property owners. And, when we can do so safely, we will be encouraging the gradual return to 'normal.' This might not come for some time, as the current mantra of "Stay Safe. Stay Home" is pervasive among our public health partners, and politicians are taking a very cautious "long view" approach.
Watch a brief update from FOCA's Executive Director from a few days ago:
Hospitals – IMPORTANT: I hope that none of you need either of these but you are being asked to go to the Minden Emergency Department for non respiratory emergencies and to Haliburton Hospital for respiratory emergencies. Please see link regarding local health plan in recent newspaper https://www.calameo.com/read/0061815147dd77cfe1190?authid=oxuW59mMuHTA
Property Checks – I saw that a few lakes are doing this and thought that it was a good idea. While we are being asked not to travel to the region but we still want to keep an eye on our property, other lakes are arranging “property checks” by people who are already there. I know that we have a few people staying on the lake and would like to ask for a few volunteers who would be willing to do an external walk around check on other properties if asked, and if anybody would like their property looked over then let me know and I will connect the two of you.
Total Fire Ban – Just a reminder that there is a province wide ban on outdoor fires
